Wood Nymph Yelper

This Elephant Ivory Yelper was carved in 2004 for a great client in the great turkey hunting state of Virginia.  He asked me to create an Ivory  Yelper featuring a "Wood Nymph".  The first model was made with clay, so all the features of a nude woman could be carefully crafted around a Trumpet Yelper.  Then I ordered the Ivory and carved the yelper you see in the images.  The overall length of the carving is about eight and a half inches, and the diameter of the original block of Ivory was slightly greater than one and a half inches.  The entire sculpture is one piece.  The Nymph is holding a turkey tail feather fan in one hand.  The other hand grasps the mouthpiece of the yelper.  Her long hair flows gently over her shoulders and back and breasts.  Her torso and the yelper are one.  The Ivory was ordered from a museum in Ohio, and is a documented legal portion of an Elephant tusk imported into the United States in 1968.
