Turkey Head Box Call This American Walnut and Eastern Red Cedar Box Call is similar to the call I carved for Mr. Earl Mickel. Earl's call can be seen on Plate #11, in his book, Turkey Callmakers, Past and Present.
The scenes on the sides of the call are different, but in the same theme, i.e., turkeys in the woods. I carved a tail fan on each end of the box, opposite of the gobbler head. Woodburned beards adorn the bottom of both sides. The lid was carved in the shape of a feather, and a strutting gobbler was carved on top of the feather. The box call inserted in the decorative call body was made of Eastern Red Cedar. Gloss Urethane Finish. $2500.00. |
