Wildfowl Carvings & Calls

Who is Kent S. Freeman?

Kent S. Freeman is a Nationally acclaimed Wildlife Artist and Wood Sculptor.  He has won numerous National and World Class awards for his ultra-realistic carvings of birds.  His duck, goose, and turkey calls are recognized as some of the finest examples of American Contemporary Folk Art.  He is a three-time Callmakers and Collectors of America National Champion Call-maker, a five-time Best of Show winner of the prestigious National Wild Turkey Federation's "Grand National Callmaking Contest", and has "Won the Blue" at the World Wildfowl Carving Championships.  No other callmaker has won this many Best of Show titles!

Kent is a Wildlife Biologist who began carving professionally in 1986.  A hobby that started when he was a teenager, turned into a full-time job, twenty five years later.  After learning to love the wildlife he encountered as a youth in the Northern reaches of the Mississippi River Delta, Freeman earned a B.S. in Zoology at Southeast Missouri State University before postgraduate work in Wildlife Biology at the University of Missouri.  His understanding of birds in the wild is beyond that of many bird artists.  He has devoted a major portion of his life studying wild birds.  The subtle nuances of his counterfeits are readily appreciated by many discriminating collectors.

Freeman's works are often featured in the National Media.  His birds and bird callers have been acquired by collectors in Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.  Each carving is a truly unique, original.
