Walnut. Five Mallards sail downwind over a patch of windblown marsh
grass. A hail call might turn them into the wind a bring them back to
within gunning range. A beautifully figured block of English Walnut was
carved, then the background behind the birds and marsh grass was woodburned.
The dark tones of the Walnut combined with the woodburning simulates an early
morning scene. The top of the stopper and top of the barrel are carved
with a pinwheel effect that feels interesting to the fingers. Wax finish.
